The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is happy to have Bustin’ In The Barn, a fairgrounds Mutton Bustin’ experience! More than 1,500 opportunities for riders to compete for 1 of 8 slots in the semi-finals, night two performance.

Walk-up Contestants

February 12 - March 1, 2026
Weekdays 6:00 PM-7:00 PM
Weekends: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and 3:00 PM-6:00 PM

Come to the designated line on the fairgrounds one hour prior to the scheduled performance to compete. Number of rider spots depends on amount of pre-registered riders - reserve your spot ahead of time to not miss out!!

Semi-Finals

Night Two Performance

Friday, February 27, 2026
Here is the path a contestant must take to ride in the Frost Bank Center
  • Become a Pre-registered or Walk-up Contestant, and ride in Bustin' In The Barn
  • Get the highest score of their performance to be entered for a chance to ride in the Frost Bank Center on Friday, February 27.

Contest Eligibility

  • Boys and Girls between the ages of 4-7 years old at the time of the event
    • Proof of age required prior to performance
  • Contestants must weigh less than 55 lbs. fully clothed at the time of the performance
    • All contestants will be weighed prior to performance (please weigh kiddos fully clothed- boots 'n all!)
  • Selected contestants will pay a $40 entry fee, all sales are final
  • Parents/ Guardians must complete the Medical Questionnaire
  • Parents/ Guardians must complete the Rodeo Release Form

FAQ:

Where do we turn-in the medical questionnaire and release form?
  • Please bring all completed forms with you on the day of your experience at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
Will safety equipment be provided?
  • Yes - vest and helmets will be provided
What should the rider wear?
  • Jeans, boots or closed toe shoes and a long sleeve, button down shirt are recommended attire
What time should we be there?
  • Riders need to check in no later than 30 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time
Do we need to purchase grounds tickets?
  • Yes, fairgrounds tickets will need to be purchased for both the competitor and their guardian.

Scoring

Contestants will receive scores based on:
  • Rider personality
  • Sheep difficulty
  • Time & distance on sheep
