About School Tours

School Tours offers a fun and educational program designed for young people to learn about the rodeo, livestock and the important role agriculture plays in the economy. Kindergarten through fifth grade students are guided around the fairgrounds by local 4-H and FFA high school tour guides where the students get a taste of Texas heritage and witness first-hand the fun and excitement offered at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo!

How To Bring Your School

All Touring Schools and Tour Guide reservations are taken on a first come/first serve basis. Public School/Districts are included in approved touring groups (free admission, HS Tour Guide provided); Charter, Private, Homeschool, Daycares, etc. are considered "Non Touring" (reduced admission fee, tour on your own). Fairgrounds admission prices will be required for all Non-Touring Schools. Please contact Patti Martin at patti@sarodeo.com for information.

Experience the Tour

Students will visit a number of areas such as Animal Adventures, Horse Discovery, the Dairy Center, Wildlife exhibit and the H-E-B Buckaroo Farms where they will learn more about agriculture through interactive activities. Classes will get the opportunity to pet real life animals and will be led by students with knowledge on the importance of agriculture who are able to explain that to your classroom!

Tour Guides

High School aged students of the 4-H, FFA and FCCLA organizations from South Texas are invited each year to serve as Tour Guides for this committee. Tour Guides assist in educating the students about agriculture and its valued importance, while sharpening their leadership and responsibility skills. Tours last 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Tour guide reservations are taken on a first come-first serve basis.

Youth Day

Youth Day is held during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in which 4-H, FFA, & FCCLA members from across Texas gather to showcase their organizations, activities and project work. Patrons attending the event are treated to arts and crafts, games, demonstrations, sweet treats, and educational activities. All the fun of Youth Day is included with your rodeo or fairgrounds ticket.
