WINGSHOOTER COMPETITION - Presented by Federal
A new shotgun event designed to simulate real life wingshooting situations involving multiple shooters engaging multiple targets as a team. This competitive shooting format will blend traditional clay shooting sports and a variety of different gamebird simulations to present challenging targets and highlight team shooting skills and instincts.
The objective remains the same as all traditional shooting sports – hit as many of the targets as possible, with ONE CAVEAT –
Don’t hit the ONE “protected species” or “out-of-season gamebird” or your team will actually lose points!
For example, imagine you are White-Winged Dove hunting in South Texas and a flight of birds emerges from a sunflower field. Your group takes aim at the flock of White-Winged Dove, but out-of-nowhere a much smaller and “protected” Inca Dove infiltrates the flurry of fast-flying action. Texas law requires your group of hunters to recognize the difference and refrain from shooting this protected species.
There will be no call for pulling targets and no “show” targets. Once the team of four shooters enters the designated shooting area, there will be a random flush, or flurry of targets that mimics a variety of actual wingshooting scenarios.
