About the Wine Committee

The Wine Committee supports our mission throughout the year by hosting an international wine competition with over 1,000 entries judged over three days by a highly experienced panel that selects the award-winning wines. A Champion Wine Auction & Dinner is held in January as well as Uncork & Unwind Wine events in the community. During the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, the committee hosts the H-E-B sponsored Wine Garden, which includes wines by the taste and glass and bottle plus weekend educational seminars and wine demos throughout the 18 days.

Champion Wine Competition

The 16th Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition will be held on October 5, 2026, followed by a Championship Round on October 6, 2026. A highly experienced and professional panel of judges will select our award-winning wines for the 2026–27 Rodeo events.

The Championship wines will be celebrated and auctioned off at our annual Taste of Champions: Wine Auction & Dinner on January 21, 2027, at the University of the Incarnate Word, Rosenberg Sky Room. Additionally, these wines will be displayed and sold in the Wine Garden sponsored by H-E-B on the Rodeo grounds during the 78th annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The H-E-B Wine Department is committed to supporting the competition and features many of the Champion Wines in their San Antonio stores during Rodeo.
