Due to the unfortunate EHV-1 equine virus outbreak November 19, 2025, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo made the decision to cancel the Uvalde Qualifier in accordance with the recommendation of the Texas Animal Health Commission regarding equine events.

Qualification for the 2026 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will now be as follows:

• The Top 10 contestants in each of the four events that were completed in Uvalde (Bull Riding, Barback, Saddle Bronc and Team Roping) will qualify.
• The remainder of events (Tie Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping and Barrel Racing) will revert to the former rule prior to the hosting of the Qualifier which is: The Top 10 current-year money earners will qualify.

This decision was made in conjunction with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and Women's Pro Rodeo Association (WPRA).
