Join Our Team

As one of San Antonio's largest and most prestigious events, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo contributes its success to countless volunteers, sponsors, fans as well as a small group of full-time staff members and interns. With a full-time staff of about 30 individuals, interns are a critical part of the success of the Show. The internship program is an opportunity to be directly involved in the daily activities of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. In addition to having valuable hands-on experience, you will gain a foundation that will bring you closer to landing your dream job.

Internship Departments


ENTERTAINMENT & FESTIVAL:

The Entertainment & Festical Department oversees the carnival, concessions, shopping, educational and interactive attractions, and live music aspects of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Entertainment & Exhibits internships will provide event management and production experience, particularly in the areas of logistics, contracting, coordination, set-up and execution. The Entertainment & Exhibits department seeks individuals who are highly-motivated, high-energy, detail-oriented and interested in the hands-on aspect of event planning and production. COMPETITIVE EVENTS & HORSE SHOW:

The Competitive Events Department facilitates a variety of livestock shows, competitive events and educational activities during the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Internship opportunities within the department vary in length and job requirements. Competitive Events interns will work closely with staff and volunteers to fulfill tasks such as data entry, accounting, assisting show officials, marketing and communications, show entry management, etc. The department coordinates with colleges and universities throughout the state to locate individuals who have the background, attitude, and ability to excel in these roles. The Horse Show Department helps facilitate a variety of horse shows, competitive events, and educational activities during the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Internship opportunities within the department vary in length and job requirements. Horse Show interns will work closely with staff and volunteers in order to fulfill tasks such as data entry, accounting, assisting show officials, marketing and communications, show entry management, etc. The department coordinates with colleges and universities throughout the state to locate individuals who have the background, attitude and ability to excel in these roles. MARKETING & SPONSORSHIP:

The Sponsorship Department is responsible for nurturing relationships with over 70 different sponsors and partners affiliated with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. As part of the Marketing Department, this group leads all negotiations, preparation and execution pertaining to contractual Rodeo event sponsorship obligations. The Sponsorship Intern will assist the Sponsorship Activation Manager with various administrative tasks, and will also be a leader in multiple activation projects. In addition, the intern will interact with sponsors, staff members, vendors, volunteers and consumers before, throughout and after the Rodeo season. The Public Relations, Communications & Design Department plays a vital role in publicizing the business and mission of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. In addition to defining and managing the brand, the team is responsible for managing all communication avenues such as traditional, digital and social media. As a volunteer organization, we also work very closely with volunteer committees in any marketing efforts. The PR/Communications Intern will assist in generating news stories, writing content for a variety of mediums, assisting with photography and administrative tasks, and collaborating with internal departments. The PR/Communications department seeks individuals that are detail oriented, obtain strong writing skills and are effective communicators. TICKETING:

The Ticketing Department offers an internship, as well as part-time positions. Interns and part-time employees will work the Box Office Manager and Customer Relations Director, while interacting with customers regarding multiple events. Individuals interested in ticketing positions should display great customer service, understand the event and all it entails, possess knowledge of the promotions and offers, assure customers receive correct information and sell the correct tickets. Rodeo Police

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Police department provides police presence and protection to over 1.3 million guests inside an 18-day time span. The men and women serving on our police force provide overwatch at over 100 posts on the Stock Show grounds, Carnival, and inside our arenas. The call to protect and serve is on display each day as we provide quality service to 1.3 million guests who come from all 254 counties across Texas. As a part of the Stock Show and Rodeo Police you are assisting the San Antonio Livestock Exposition to help educate over 21,000 students benefitting from scholarships, grants, and endowments.

Patrol Division

Our patrol division will be responsible for police presence and protection on the Stock Show and Rodeo grounds, carnival, inside arenas. You will be expected to preserve the peace & safety of the guests in attendance, patrol and provide police duties in assigned posts, maintain expectations given by Stock Show and Rodeo Police command staff, and enforce local, state, and federal laws according to your department policy. Requirements: TCOLE certified peace officer with an active commission (no reserve officers,) and approved to work with Stock Show and Rodeo Police through your department’s off-duty employment policy.

Traffic Division

Our traffic division will be responsible for police presence and protection at the Stock Show and Rodeo through traffic enforcement. Traffic officers will assist in ensuring guests have a safe and expedient route for their visit to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Light bars, cones, and other traffic operations devices will be provided for Traffic Officers to accomplish the task set forth by Stock Show and Rodeo Police command staff. Interested Officers will not need to use their personal vehicle for traffic posts. Requirements: TCOLE certified peace officer, active or reserve, and approved to work with the Stock Show and Rodeo Police through your department’s off-duty employment policy.

Dispatch

Our dispatchers come from multiple agencies across many counties. If you have interest in becoming a dispatcher for the Stock Show and Rodeo Police, we require TLETS certification and hold an active TCOLE certification as a Telecommunications Officer.
