The Meat Science Skillathon is a hands-on and interactive competition that challenges contestants regarding their knowledge of meat science and BBQ concepts. Elements will include a written exam, identification, yield grades, quality grades, and BBQ cookery skills. The contests will be divided into two age divisions- Junior (8-13 yrs. old) and Senior (14-18 yrs. old) to allow for age appropriate content which encourages exhibitors to continue to participate. Top contestants in the Senior age division will also compete in a final round featuring an extemporaneous speech about the meat industry topic.
