Texas 4-H and FFA exhibitors show in one of four different breed divisions of the Junior Market Lamb Show; the breeds are Fine Wool, Fine Wool Cross, Medium Wool, and Southdown. Within each breed division lambs are shown by weight and judged on characteristics such as muscle, leanness, and structural correctness. The judge will rank the lambs in class to determine which lambs are eligible for the Junior Livestock Auction. The winning lambs of each breed division then compete for Grand Champion honors.
More rules and information can be found in the Livestock Premium List.
Changes for 2019
Premium Arrival Pass - Optional pass designed to assist exhibitors who work with others to consolidate their animals into fewer trailers. Available for purchase through the online entry system via AST/CEA. For a complete list of rules and requirements regarding the Premium Arrival Pass, see the General Rules section of the 2019 Livestock Premium List (pg. 27).
Clarification - Ear Tag - Rule 8 of the Junior Market Lamb Rules (below). All ear tags except the TX Validation Tag, Texas Lamb Breeders Association (TLBA) tag, and USDA Scrapie Eradication Program identification must be removed before showing.
