2020 Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Retail Vendor Application



This is an application to request Retail Booth space for the 23rd Annual Bar-B-Que Cook-Off and Festival.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE A BOOTH SPACE.

Applications must be submitted no later than January 1, 2020.
All applicants will receive a written response indicating acceptance or refusal on or before January 3, 2020.
License Agreement and payment deadlines will be issued at time of acceptance.

Retail vendors will be placed outside. Pricing is $250.00 for the first 10'x10' space, plus $100.00 for each additional 10'x10' space. (i.e. 10'x20' = $250.00 + $100.00)

2018 Food Vendor Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a food vender at the 2018 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo! Below you will find information about our organization and the 2018 Food Vendor Application.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is a volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas. Since our inception in 1950 we have raised over $186 million towards educating the youth of Texas.  Food vendors are a part of the giving because a portion of the proceeds from concession fees goes towards this amount.

Aramark serves as our 3rd party concessionaire and manages all food vendors.  Aramark is a leader in the food service industry that serves champion sports teams, leading educational institutions, and cultural attractions in 19 countries around the world.

If you would like to further support our mission and join us February 8-25, 2018, please fill out the Food Vendor Application below.  Submit your application to Jamie Kommer at [email protected].

  • Vendors are selected based on menu, presentation, power requirements of their booth, and space availability
  • Applications, with supporting documentation, must be submitted no later than October 31, 2017
  • All selected vendors will be notified by email on or before December 15, 2017
  • Please note, this application does not guarantee commercial space

Misc Information

The vendors selected for the show will receive a Subcontractor Contract by e-mail. Below is a brief summary of the terms.

Commission Rates
50% of Net Sales (less only sales tax) of all Food and Beverage items;
5% Handling Fee for sale of bottled soda and water provided to vendor

Renewal applications must be submitted prior to July 31, 2019. All applicants will receive a written response indicating acceptance or refusal by September 1, 2019.

Those accepted will receive a letter of confirmation, basic rules, and a License Agreement. The License Agreement and a 25% deposit must be returned by October 1, 2019; all remaining balances must be paid by December 1, 2019. Payments not made by the above dates will result in late fees and/or forfeiture of retail booth space and deposit.

Indoor booth prices range from $17.00-$23.00/sq. ft. depending on location. Outdoor booths and booths inside the Texas Wildlife Expo are priced at $11.00/sq. ft. All spaces are assigned based on availability.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo evaluates layouts each year; therefore, your selection is not guaranteed. If any changes are made to the layout in your building you will be notified prior to receiving your License Agreement.

Requests are subject to review and will be considered based upon availability and Retail Vendor Coordinator approval.

In the space below provide a complete detailed description of products and brands represented. List the brand name of the product that you are requesting to sell and the percentage of the booth that this product will be displayed in. This information will be directly tied to your License Agreement and must be approved.

Fees and Services

A mandatory utility/cleaning fee of $250.00 per vendor will be applied to your total (no exceptions). Submit requests for additional power below. These requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional fees. (Each vendor is limited to 500 watts)

A basic Telephone Service is provided for $175.00; includes jack, monthly charge, and activation. Submit request for telephone service below. (Service is based upon availability)

Insurance
Insurance fee for basic liability coverage is included with booth rental.

1. The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc (SALE), d/b/a San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is an “Invitational Show”.
2. Returning vendors receive priority in placement as long as they are in good standing with the Show.
3. New vendors are reviewed and selected based upon space availability, product, and booth display.

This dinner will honor the accomplishments of those Texas Pitmasters who earned the most Points overall and in each meat category in qualifying cook-offs in the state of Texas over the past year. This is truly the highlight of Texas competition BBQ as the Points Chase celebrates not only individual successes, but consistency over time. The Awards Dinner will take place Thursday, January 25, 2018. Tickets for the Awards Dinner are only $50 per person and include food and beverages.

    The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is proud to welcome one of the largest carnival providers in the United States. Wade Shows provides a variety of rides from extreme to mild in order to satisfy rodeo patrons of all ages. Fairgrounds admission DOES include entry to the carnival.     About the Frontier Club

    The Frontier Club is a dining and entertainment establishment located between the Freeman Coliseum and the Exhibit Market Place on the AT&T Center/Freeman Coliseum Grounds.

    During the Rodeo, the Frontier Club hosts live bands Wednesday through Saturday nights and has a full bar selection. Prior to the Rodeo performance and throughout the day (11:00 a.m. open time) the Frontier Club full service restaurant is catered by Hofbrau and will offer a lunch menu, buffet, and full service bar.

    Reservations are recommended, especially during hours just prior to Rodeo performances. By becoming a member during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, you join us in supporting youth, agriculture and education. Proceeds benefit the Junior Livestock Auction and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship Fund. 

    The Frontier Club is open to all for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and to members on evenings and weekends.

    About the Van de Walle Fajita Corral

    The Corral is operated by volunteer from the Fajita Corral Committee, as well as many corporate volunteers, with proceeds benefiting the S.A.L.E. Scholarship Fund. To date the Corral has raised nearly $3 million to support the education of Texas youth. If you have a taste for great Texas barbeque, this is the place to eat! Mouth-watering brisket, beef or chicken fajitas, great dumplings and baked potatoes, will fill up even the hungriest of Stock Show & Rodeo guests.

    Join us for this free event as we step back in time to celebrate our historic Texas roots and the kick-off the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The parade route runs through the streets of downtown San Antonio and features participants who represent the heritage of our Lone Star State and the Old West. Fort Hood 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Sam Houston Caisson, Texas Heritage Riders and of course, a herd of Texas Longhorns are just some of the snapshots that celebrate the legacy of our great State. Before the parade, you can enjoy the Stampede 5K as well as the Wrangler Breakfast and don't forget the Vaquero Cook-Off right after the parade.

    More than 3,500 riders give up the comforts of home and take to the open road on horseback and in wagons to ride to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. From 11 locations in South and Central Texas, these riders promote fellowship and horseback riding as they make their way to the Rodeo with the ride concluding in grand fashion inside the AT&T center Rodeo arena.

    About Boy Scout / Girl Scout Day

    The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is proud to partner with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Texas to host Scout Day on the first Sunday of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Participating Boy and Girl Scout troops will engage in a day of educational and fun-filled activities for the whole family including a scavenger hunt through the Cowboy Boot Camp, Animal Adventures, Texas Wildlife Expo and the Horse Education Center.

    After the scout troops have completed their scavenger hunt and if you have purchased tickets to the event, they have the opportunity to enjoy the 1:00 p.m. PRCA Rodeo performance and family-friendly live entertainment following. (*locations subject to change)

    About the Shops at the Rodeo

    Shop till you drop at ‘The Shops at the Rodeo’ marketplaces—where over 250 themed retailers showcase their wares in climate controlled venues. There are three locations around the grounds including inside Freeman Coliseum, Expo Hall, and Expo Hall 2.

    Numerous hand-selected vendors showcase items such as home furnishings, accessories, leather goods, agricultural related items, equipment, custom boots, clothing and jewelry. From Shabby Chic to Old West, there is something for all tastes!

    About Little Buckaroo Farms

    Exhibits offer visitors a chance to see the agricultural origins of the food and fiber needed for daily living. Exhibits show agricultural production from farm and ranch to the kitchen table. Visitors to Little Buckaroo Farms can sample southwest dairy products, see a live beehive, take a picture with a farm animal or try their hand at goat-milking! Exhibits and displays include a dairy product exhibit, honeybee exhibit, Bexar County Master Gardener's booth, rainwater harvesting display, farm animal exhibit and an indoor garden display.

    About Youth Day

    Hosted by the School Tours Committee of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Youth Day is an entire day during the San Antonio Rodeo dedicated to Youth! During this day, 4-H, FFA, & FCCLA members from across Texas gather together to showcase their organizations, activities, & project work. These members set up exhibits and interactive activity booths for young visitors attending the Stock Show & Rodeo. Children are treated to arts and crafts, games, demonstrations, sweet treats, and educational activities. All the fun of Youth Day is included with your rodeo or grounds ticket.

    The School Tours Committee also hosts a photography contest as part of the Youth Day activities. Entries from the contest will be on display the first Sunday, February 9th, in the School Tours tent located in Family Fair from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Photography Contest Awards Ceremony will be held in the School Tours tent at 3:30pm this same day.

    The Photography Contest promotes the interests and talents of youth photographers to the visitors of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The Photography Contest is open to the youth of Texas 8 to 18 years of age as of August 31, 2019 and attending public, private, or home school in the State of Texas. All photos will be displayed in the School Tours Tent on Youth Day. Pictures will be on display in our tent, Sunday, February 9th from noon to 4:30 p.m. Winners will be announced this same date at 3:30 p.m.

    Horse Discovery provides the opportunity to learn more about horses and the sport of rodeo. Exhibits include displays of horses, their uses and their role in today’s world. The Rodeo Experience feature provides an up-close exploration of rodeo events, including interactive and hands-on exhibits.     The Animal Adventures exhibit is designed to help folks gain a better understanding of the relationship between the everyday uses of animal products and the importance of agriculture. This interactive exhibit is open daily with various activities involving audience participation. The various stages of animal production are presented, as well as the colorful history of the industries. Product displays, demonstrations, interactive video, and feed samples are just a few of the educational tidbits provided. Live animals are also on exhibit for everyone to see. Take time to view wool and mohair displays, hatching of chicks, and other interesting activities.
