2010 Xtreme Bull Riding Ground Rules
PRCA Ground Rules (other than Xtreme Bulls)

GROUND RULES: Only actual contestant and one companion allowed gate access.
ALL EVENTS:
No multi-event buddy will be accepted.
There will be an extended grace period for those contestants who are entered and meet qualifications to change preferences January 4, 3-5PM.
A doctor's release, visible injury or turn our can be replaced by an alternate from a list of contestants that were drawn out due to qualifications. An alternate from 2010 money won will replace a doctor's release, visible injury or turn out from the 2010 qualifiers and an alternate from the 2009 money won will replace a doctors release, visible injury, or turn out from the 2009 qualifiers. The notification must be made through PROCOM at least 30 hours prior to first performance for the replacement to be made and must be made prior to the contestant's first go-round position (any TO, VIR or DR notification made through PROCOM will be final).
Notifications made after the 30 hour deadline will not be replaced (Except in TR, see TR qualifications). In the riding events the alternate will draw from a pool consisting of the animal drawn for the contestant that he is replacing, the designated reride animal, and any other turned out animal (including DR's). This draw will be performed by the judges at the rodeo.
ALL CONTESTANTS
Payoff for S.A.L.E. will be done through the PRCA office.
All Contestants must sign a release of liability with the secretary before competing in this rodeo. No dogs will be allowed on the grounds, with the exception of contract acts.
Any contestant who turns out of S.A.L.E. without a valid doctor release or visible injury will not be eligible to enter S.A.L.E. in 2011.
- All contestants will check in at Coliseum/AT&T Center West Gate/Gate A on Houston Street upon arrival. Contestants must park horse trailers in the designated ProRodeo parking area. All contestants must wear PRCA patch while competing.
Hot shots will not be allowed to be used in the AT&T Center at any time by anyone. The only exception would be if necessary for the safety of an individual or an animal.
ALL CONTESTANTS WITH HORSES
Must have proof of current Coggins Test (valid within twelve months of date of admission), health papers and meet Texas Annual Animal Health Regulations. No exceptions.
Contestants must abide by San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo regulations for entry and exit with animals. Individuals who violate animal entry policies will be subject to immediate ejection from the premises.
ALL EVENTS
Any Money won at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo shall not count for Texas Circuit points or as a Texas Circuit rodeo count towards qualifications for the Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo.
TD - Optional TD ground rule R11.6.5 will be in effect.
TE - Stock contractor to provide one animal for every entry, plus extras. If a timed event animal escapes, the extra will be used. Escaped animal goes back into herd.
TR - Permit holders will not be allowed to enter with a card holder or permit holder. Only two loops allowed.
QUALIFICATIONS: ALL EVENTS
BB, SB, BR, TD & SW - Forty-eight (48) minimum entries per event. No Compensation. No slack. No exemptions. No entry fees.
The top 5 from 2010 money won that enter will be accepted. The top 43 from 2009 money won that enter will be accepted. If a contestant qualifies in both categories (2009 and 2010 money won) he will assume the position among the 2010 qualifiers.
TEAM ROPING:
48 minimum teams, No compensation. No exemptions. No slack. No entry fees.
The top 5 headers and 5 heelers from 2010 money won that enter will be accepted. The top 43 headers and the top 43 heelers from 2009 money won that enter will be accepted. If a contestant qualifies in both categories (2009 and 2010 money won) he will assume the position among the 2009 qualifiers (TR only).
The 48 headers that qualify must rope with the 48 heelers that qualify. If a contestant's partner is drawn out due to qualification, the contestant who qualified will not be allowed to draw out. A replacement partmer will be drawn at random from the other contestants whose partners were drawn out due to qualification. In the team roping, if a header or heeler notifies a TO, VIR or DR prior to the 30 hour deadline, leaving an incomplete team, the next contestant in the corresponding category (header or heeler) on the alternate list of contestants that were drawn out due to qualification, will be added to the team (any TO, CIR, or DR notification made through PROCOM will be final). If a notification is not made prior to the 30 hour deadline, the remaining partner may select another partner from among any of the PRCA event contestants already entered at the rodeo, except those scheduled to compete in the TR. No partners can be replaced after a team has competed in their first go-round.
FORMAT:
All events. Four go-rounds back to back to back to back (4 brackets of 12 contestants or teams each will account for the first 16 performances). The Top 5 money winners (twenty total) in each bracket will advance to a two performance semi-finals (10 contestants in each performance) held during hte 17th and 18th perfs. No previous times or scores will be carried forward. If there is a tie, the tie will be broken by any go-round winner in the bracket, if still tied; it will be broken by any single fastest time or highest marked ride. If still tied, the tie will be broken based on the 2009 money won.
The qualifiers for the two semi finals performances will be seeded as follows:

The actual competition position will be drawn randomly. Contestant will have 30 minutes after the end of the 4th go-round of their event to trade positions with another contestant from their bracket. The top 6 from each semi finals (based on total money won from the first four go-rounds plus the semi finals) will advance to the finals (19th performance).
If there is a tie, the tie will be broken by single fastest time or highest marked ride in the semi-finals, if still tied; it will be broken by most money won prior to the semi-finals in the brackets. If still tied, the tie will be broken by any go-round winner in the bracket. If still tied, the tie will be broken based on 2009 money won. No previous scores or times will be carried forward.
The Finals (19th performance) will consist of 12 contestants or teams (6 from each of the semi-final performances). The event champion will be determined by most money won at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. If there is a tie, the tie will be broken by single fastest time or highest marked ride in the finals, if still tied; it will be broken by most money won prior to the finals (bracket plus semi-finals). If still tied, the tie will be broken by any go-round winner in the bracket. If still tied, the tie will be broken by official 2009 money won. Payoff for S.A.L.E. will be done through the PRCA office.

Payoff for the first 18 performances (including semi finals). No average.

During performances the arena must be clear of all contestants 15 minutes prior to the start of the laser and pyro opening. This will be strictly enforced due to fire department order.
No timed event contestant is allowed in the arena at any other time than when they are competing. No exceptions.
No children are allowed behind chutes, on chute level or in the arena. No exceptions.
All areas behind the chutes will be considered part of the arena. To gain access to this area, contestants must be dressed according to PRCA rules and have their numbers visible. Contestants must wear back numbers which are clearly visible at all times upon entrance to and while in the arena whether competing or not. No jackets, coats, vests, etc. may be worn which cover back number while contestant is in the arena areas.
Only rodeo contestants with valid contestant number will be allowed behind chutes and in the chute or arena area. Numbers must be clearly visible. Anyone caught with an invalid number (one not belonging to them) will have that number confiscated. Anyone giving their number to someone else will be turned into the PRCA Officials.
Only the contestant and one helper plus the chute help and TV or S.A.L.E. staff will be allowed on the platform behind the Bucking Chutes.
In the timed events: Contestants will lead their horse through the event level hallway to the timed event end of the arena as directed by Arena Officials. The first 3 teams or contestants only, will be allowed into the arena. Arena Police will enforce this and allow those contestants in according to the Rodeo Secretary's list. After each run the team or contestant will leave the arena through the center gate at the west end (bucking chute end) and another team or contestant will be allowed in. The two teams or contestant not competing will be asked to stay in the holding pen until their turn to compete. This will allow those in box seats to see the event.
In accordance with PRCA By-law (B15.1.9), this is to notify that San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will only admit contestants who are entered in the competition to facilities at no charge. PRCA members who are not entered will not be given free admission, nor may they enter any area restricted only to contestants without proper credentials.
Due to the limited number of stalls available, arrival time at the Coliseum/AT&T Center will be at 2:00 PM one day prior to the performance they are up at and departure time is 10:00 AM one day after the performance they are up at. Stalls will be assigned to contestants at Coliseum/AT&T Center on a first come, first serve basis.
Contestants will not change clothes in the arena or arena area. ALL changing of clothes in the AT&T Center will be done in the Contestant Locker Room. This will be strictly enforced by the Security.
Women's Professional Rodeo Association Ground Rules
GROUND RULES: For Women only; dress code will be enforced.
Card holder substitution for all doctor and veterinarian releases received prior to 12 pm on January 29, 2010. (Only contestants drawn out due to qualifications are eligible to re-enter.) Card holder substitution re-entries 1-4pm January 31, 2010.
A doctor's release can be replaced by an alternate from a list of contestants that were drawn out due to qualifications. An alternate from 2010 money won will replace a doctor's release from the 2010 qualifiers and an alternate from the 2009 official world standings will replace a doctor's release from the 2009 qualifiers and the circuit winners. Notifications made after the 30 hour deadline will not be replaced. Replacements can only be made prior to the first go-round of each bracket.

ENTRY FEES - There are no entry fees to compete.

The top five money winners (twenty total) in each bracket will advance to a two performance semi-finals (10 contestants in each performance) held during hte 17th and 18th perfs. No previous times or scores will be carried forward. If there is a tie, the tie will be broken by any go-round winner in the bracket, if still tied; it will be broken by any single fastest time. If still tied, the tie will be broken based on the 2009 official standings coming into the rodeo.
Positions in the semi-finals will be by random draw.

At all performances, the ground will be hand raked after each run.
2010 XTREME BULLS GROUND RULES
COMPETITION FORMAT:
40 minimum entries. One 40 contestant go-round with top 12 finals (will not exceed 12). If there are not 12 qualified rides, all remaining positions will be filled by random draw. If the 12th contestant is tied going into the final round, th tie will be broken by the back judge. If he cannot break the tie, all tied contestants will draw chips to see who advances to the finals.
IN ORDER OF SELECTION:
90% top money
5% top circuit
5% random draw of exemptions
NOTIFY PROCOM:
Notification must be made at the time of entry if claiming an exemption from qualification. Anyone claiming an exemption must have entered and paid fees at a minimum of twenty (20) PRCA sanctioned rodeos held during the 2008 rodeo year, unless the contestant qualifies for a medical exemption. Contestants claiming medical exemptions must have been injured at least six (6) months during the 2008 rodeo year. Contestant must not have entered and paid fees at more than twenty (20) PRCA sanctioned rodeos held during the 2009 rodeo year, unless the contestant qualifies for a medical exemption. Contestants claiming medical exemptions must have been injured at least six (6) months during the 2009 rodeo year. Contestant must not have entered and paid fees at more than twenty (2) PRCA sanctioned rodeos or events held during the 2009 rodeo year. A letter from a liscensed physician on doctor's letterhead bearing the doctor's name, address and phone number, must be received by the PRCA National Office prior to the entry opening
CHECK-IN:
Contestants must check in or notify arena secretary 1/2 hour prior to the start of the event. Failure to do so will result in an alternate contestant being selected and allowed to compete.
ALTERNATES:
Alternates will be selected from a list established by PROCOM based on 2009 money won as of 7 days prior to entry closing. (Only contestants that were drawn out due to qualifications will be selected as alternates).
Contestants who have originally entered and were eligible at time of entry may check in with or call the venue secretary no later than 1 hour prior to the performance to confirm their availability and desire to be an alternate. If selected, an alternate will assume the competition position of the contestant that he is replacing and if stock has been drawn, he will receive the stock drawn by that contestant.
STOCK DRAW:
Stock will be drawn per the rule book. The event will count towards the official rodeo count for any contestant that turns out after stock callbacks, whether that contestant is replaced or not. If a contestant turns out and is replaced by an alternate, the alternate will be responsible for entry fees. If a contestant properly doctor releases he will not be responsible for entry fees nor will the event be applied to his official rodeo count.
TURN OUT:
Any non-notified turn out will be responsible for entry fees and the event will count toward the official rodeo count even if they are replaced. The alternate will also be responsible for entry fees. If a contestant turns out of a Division 1 event after the stock draw and a replacement is not found, he will be charged a $500 turn out fine.
HONEST EFFORT:
At any Xtreme Bull Riding Event, a contestant must make an honest effort to compete on the stock drawn for such contestant. If in the opinion of the Pro Official, the contestant has the opportunity to nod for the bull and does not, the contestant will be disqualified and suspended for the next two Division 1 Xtreme Bull Riding. The determination of the Pro Official will be final. In addition to the disqualification, the fine will progressively double for each reoccurring offense.
PAY-OFF:
6% of the total purse is to be deducted prior to the pay-off and sent in with the results. Pay-off will be determined on highest marked scores. 30% of the total purse will be allocated to the long go-round, pays 8 places. 20% of total purse will be allocated to the final go-round, pays 6 places. 50% of the total purse will be allocated to the average, pays 8 places. All percentages will be divided in accordance with rulebook. Any contestant who advances into a final go-round solely by randow draw (no qualified rides) will not be eligible to participate in the average pay-off. In addition, any money won in the final go-round will be considered ground money (no championship points).
NOTE:
In order for money won in Xtreme Bulls competition (including division 2 qualifiying events) to count for the 2010 National Finals Rodeo, during the 2010 season, a contestant must have entered and competed at a minimum of 40 (forty) PRCA rodeos. Money won will count for PRCA World Standings and Xtreme Bulls Standing. It will not count for circuit standings or towards a circuit rodeo count.
EF'S:
$250 entry fee plus $35 Central Entry Office/Supplemental Insurance Fee ($285 total).
