S.A.L.E. Presents Scholarships at Texas FFA Convention
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo awarded scholarships totaling $240,000 to 43 deserving Texas FFA members during the Texas FFA Convention held in Corpus Christi, Texas at the American Bank Center on July 12, 2012.
A delegation of 31 volunteers and staff members from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo were in attendance as Joe Hutchison, President of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (S.A.L.E.) presented the awards alongside Jackie Simmonds, Chairman of the S.A.L.E. Scholarship Committee. S.A.L.E. representatives Jackie Van De Walle, Russell Bading, Brenda Harris, Clint Swindall and Bill Jerman assisted Mr. Hutchison and Ms. Simmonds. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
In a luncheon held prior to the awards ceremony, scholarship recipients were reminded of the importance of embodying S.A.L.E.’s core values of integrity, caring and excellence throughout their upcoming college years. Along with these values, the scholars were urged to complete the circle of giving by returning to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in the future to become a part of the S.A.L.E. family of volunteers that are the core of the organization’s mission and success.
