Congratulations on a great BBQ year!!! Because of your accomplishments in the Texas BBQ Points Chase, you have qualified to enter and compete in the Texas Bar-B-Que Finale (The Finale). The Finale will take place during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Bar-B-Que Cook-off and Festival (SABBQ) January 26-27, 2017. The event will be IBCA sanctioned.

We also invite you to attend the Texas BBQ Points Chase Awards Dinner which will honor the accomplishments of those Texas Pitmasters who earned the most Points overall and in each meat category. This is truly the highlight of Texas competition BBQ as the Points Chase celebrates not only individual successes, but consistency over time. The Awards Dinner will take place Thursday, January 26, 2017 on the SABBQ grounds (add address). Tickets for the Awards Dinner are only $50 per person and include food and beverages.

This is what you do next:

To compete in the Texas Bar-B-Que Finale, you must have already purchased a space at SABBQ.

Register for The Finale by entering your information below and pay the $200 entry fee. This entry fee is in addition to the SABBQ Entry Fee. You must register and pay for The Finale by January 21, 2017.

While registering for The Finale, you also have the option to purchase tickets to the Texas Bar-B-Que Points Chase Dinner.

Should you prefer to enter only The Finale (and not SABBQ) please email [email protected] and let us know by January 21, 2017. If you are ONLY cooking The Finale, the $500 fee that you have already paid to get your spot at SABBQ is your entry fee and there would be no additional charge.

You may purchase as many tickets to the Awards Dinner as you like. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend. If you purchase a full table of eight (8) seats, your table will be reserved with your name on it in the front of the room.

  • Media personnel are responsible for confirming the approval of their requests.

  • The San Antonio Stock Show reserves the right to revoke credential privileges for any reason.
  • Misuse of a media credential will result in the immediate loss of the credential, removal from the media areas and the possible loss of future credential privileges for his/her organization.

    Frontier Club

    The Frontier Club is a dining and entertainment establishment located between the Freeman Coliseum and the Exhibit Market Place on the AT&T Center/Freeman Coliseum Grounds.

    During the Rodeo, the Frontier Club hosts live bands Wednesday through Saturday nights and has a full bar selection. Prior to the Rodeo performance and throughout the day (11:00 a.m. open time) the Frontier Club full service restaurant is catered by Hofbrau and will offer a lunch menu, buffet, and full service bar.

    Reservations are recommended, especially during hours just prior to Rodeo performances. By becoming a member during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, you join us in supporting youth, agriculture and education. Proceeds benefit the Junior Livestock Auction and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship Fund. 

    The Frontier Club is open to all for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and to members on evenings and weekends.

    The Corral is operated by volunteer from the Fajita Corral Committee, as well as many corporate volunteers, with proceeds benefiting the S.A.L.E. Scholarship Fund. To date the Corral has raised nearly $3 million to support the education of Texas youth. If you have a taste for great Texas barbeque, this is the place to eat! Mouth-watering brisket, beef or chicken fajitas, great dumplings and baked potatoes, will fill up even the hungriest of Stock Show & Rodeo guests.

    Swifty Swine Sprints

    A fast-paced, action-packed show that is visually exciting and keeps audiences on their toes as the competing pigs race to the finish line. The audience is guaranteed to go “hog wild” as “Swifty” the pig shows off his swimming and diving skills.

    There is also an educational segment incorporated into the show called “P.U. Piggie University,” which provides informative facts about pigs and their importance to medical science. There are five shows daily during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.

    About the Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive

    Join us for this free event as we celebrate our proud Texas heritage and the kick-off for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The mile long route through the streets of downtown San Antonio will feature participants such as Fort Hood 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Sam Houston Caisson and of course, a herd of Texas Longhorns.

    The Western Heritage Parade & Cattle drive will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017

    More than 3,500 riders give up the comforts of home and take to the open road on horseback and in wagons to ride to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. From 11 locations in South and Central Texas, these riders promote fellowship and horseback riding as they make their way to the Rodeo with the ride concluding in grand fashion inside the AT&T center Rodeo arena.

    About Boy Scout / Girl Scout Day

    The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is proud to partner with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Texas to host Scout Day on the first Sunday of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Participating Boy and Girl Scout troops will engage in a day of educational and fun-filled activities for the whole family including a scavenger hunt through the Cowboy Boot Camp, Animal Adventures, Texas Wildlife Expo and the Horse Education Center.

    After the scout troops have completed their scavenger hunt and if you have purchased tickets to the event, they have the opportunity to enjoy the 1:00 p.m. PRCA Rodeo performance and family-friendly live entertainment following. (*locations subject to change)

    Shop till you drop at ‘The Shops at the Rodeo’ marketplaces—where over 250 themed retailers showcase their wares in climate controlled venues. There are three locations around the grounds including inside Freeman Coliseum, Expo Hall, and Expo Hall 2.

    Numerous hand-selected vendors showcase items such as home furnishings, accessories, leather goods, agricultural related items, equipment, custom boots, clothing and jewelry. From Shabby Chic to Old West, there is something for all tastes!

    Additionally, there are vendors located throughout the Stock Show grounds, in front of the barns along Freeman Blvd, along Bickett St. and in the Texas Wildlife Expo area.

    Little Buckaroo Farms

    Exhibits offer visitors a chance to see the agricultural origins of the food and fiber needed for daily living. Exhibits show agricultural production from farm and ranch to the kitchen table. Visitors to Little Buckaroo Farm can sample southwest dairy products, see a live beehive, take a picture with a farm animal or try their hand at goat-milking! Exhibits and displays include a dairy product exhibit, honeybee exhibit, Bexar County Master Gardener's booth, rainwater harvesting display, farm animal exhibit and an indoor garden display.

    Bexar County Master Gardener/horticulture-related exhibits and activities include:
    Sales of new rodeo tomato and ornamental plants
    Gardening advice from experts
    Vegetable gardening displays
    Limited-space gardening
    Greenhouse growing

    Our child-friendly Pony Rides offer a chance to ride beautiful pure bred Welsh ponies under a revolving tent top. Our gorgeous, healthy, strong, purebred Welsh ponies are a sight to see, and kids fall in love with them. This tradition at our Rodeo has families bringing their kids back to ride the same ponies that they rode when they were toddlers!

    About Youth Day

    Hosted by the School Tours Committee of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Youth Day is an entire day during the San Antonio Rodeo dedicated to Youth! During this day, 4-H, FFA, & FCCLA members from across Texas gather together to showcase their organizations, activities, & project work. These members set up exhibits and interactive activity booths for young visitors attending the Stock Show & Rodeo. Children are treated to arts and crafts, games, demonstrations, sweet treats, and educational activities. All the fun of Youth Day is included with your rodeo or grounds ticket.

    The School Tours Committee also hosts a photography contest as part of the Youth Day activities. Entries from the contest are on display in the School Tours tent located in Family Fair from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Photography Contest Awards Ceremony will be held in the School Tours tent also.

    The Photography Contest promotes the interests and talents of youth photographers to the visitors of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The Photography Contest is open to the youth of Texas 8 to 18 years of age as of August 31, 2016 and attending public, private, or home school in the State of Texas. All photos will be displayed in the School Tours Tent on February 11, 2017 for Youth Day.

    Country Couture Youth Fashion Show

    The purpose of this fashion show is to give our youth an opportunity to show their talents and abilities. This is not a judged competition; it is simply a time when young people can show off a garment that they have made. The garment(s) can be created from a purchased pattern, an original design or a redesign of an existing garment.

    Horse Discovery provides the opportunity to learn more about horses and the sport of rodeo. Exhibits include displays of horses, their uses and their role in today’s world. The Rodeo Experience feature provides an up-close exploration of rodeo events, including interactive and hands-on exhibits. Expert clinics and demonstrations present fun and informative insights into horse training methods, riding types, horse care and ways to enjoy time spent with horses.

    Big Things Are Happening

    The Animal Adventures exhibit is designed to help folks gain a better understanding of the relationship between the everyday uses of animal products and the importance of agriculture. This interactive exhibit is open daily with various activities involving audience participation. The various stages of animal production are presented, as well as the colorful history of the industries. Product displays, demonstrations, interactive video, and feed samples are just a few of the educational tidbits provided. Live animals are also on exhibit for everyone to see. Take time to view wool and mohair displays, hatching of chicks, and other interesting activities.
