The 31st Annual Go Western Gala took place on Saturday, January 19th in the AT&T Center. Some 2500 guests were greeted at the door by trays of Don Strange's famous white wings and glasses of wine. Ladies and gents were dressed in their best western attire as they made their way to the many food booths located in the two Saddles and Spurs Clubs. Oysters, Steak Diane, Venison Crepes, Gorditas, Shrimp, Beef and Pork Tenderloin are just some of fine fair that the guests enjoyed provided by our caterer, Don Strange.
The evening began with a beautiful rendition of our national anthem, performed by KJ97 deejay, Randy Carroll. Next up was San Antonio's own, Wayne Harper. Always a crowd favorite, Wayne got the guests involved by performing his unique impersonations and fun brand of music.
The Gala had a different format this year. By placing multi-million dollar record selling artist, Tracy Lawrence in the center of the line-up the atmosphere ignited as Tracy belted out his sixteen number one selling songs to the over zealous crowd.
With everyone still in a party mood, the evening was closed out in a big way by Austin's oldies rock and roll band, "Hot Cakes". Everyone was seen dancing wherever there was a vacant spot to the old tunes and classics we all know and love until closing time.
As all proceeds will benefit the scholarship program, the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and the Go Western Gala Committee are very grateful for the support and generosity of our sponsors and guests who helped make this year's gala the best one yet!
